Product Description

Nationally renowned body language expert Tonya Reiman illuminates what until now has been a gray area in interpersonal communication: harnessing the power of your nonverbal cues to get what you want out of every aspect of life, from professional encounters to personal relationships.

Unlike other books on this fascinating topic, The Power of Body Language is your practical, personal playbook for getting what you desire from others -- and zoning in on what others are saying to you without words. Once you know the hidden meaning behind specific gestures, facial cues, stances, and body movements, you will possess a sixth sense that can be a life-changing, career-saving, trouble-shooting skill you will never leave home without! Learn how to:

Take control of your own secret signals

Gain trust -- and detect untrustworthiness

Ace a job interview

Shake hands (the right way)

Make a dazzling first impression

Exude confidence -- even when you're not feeling it

Recognize if someone is lying

Understand why men and women "speak" a different language

Read a face to know a person's inner emotional state...and much more.

In an insightful and engaging narrative, Tonya Reiman analyzes all of the components of body language -- the languages of the face, the body, space and touch, and sound. She shows you how to become a Master Communicator with The Reiman Rapport Method, a surefire system for building an instant connection with anyone, in any situation. And she shares the experiences of her clients, from executives to politicians to relationship seekers: Learn from Cindy, a confident and ambitious manager who turned her career around by altering the subconscious messages she was sending her male colleagues...and Peter, the wedding DJ whose client list blossomed as soon as he practiced the art of social smiling!

Peppered with photos and fun facts, The Power of Body Language is as entertaining as it is instructive. Get the power to send and receive the messages you want -- and never be left in the dark again.

5 out of 5 stars What you don't say can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion   January 29, 2008

What you don't say can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion. As interesting as it is to learn to read others, it is also important to learn your own particular non verbal quirks: i.e.: Tonya's book teaches that although the reader may not be aware of it, people receive messages through body language (nonverbal signals) that can have a huge impact in a positive or negative way, just as the sound of your voice may make more of an impact (positively or negatively) than your actual words.

She teaches the reader to watch for body language signals may indicate truths that are not expressed in words. She also teaches the nuances and psychology of mirroring body language. The book clarifies the meanings of signals and nonverbal cues and shows the reader how to use this knowledge to his/her best advantage in every day situations, including the differences in male and female body language.

After reading this book, I found that watching political speeches more interesting, especially when the body language and spoken words do not match.

I would recommend this book to everyone.

I am fascinated with this and try to read as many books as I can on this subject. Tonya says many of the same things I have read in other books, but she includes a lot of additional personal insight and information that makes the book very readable and useful. She approaches the subject from different directions which provide the reader with an interesting read. I have not finished the book yet, but am enjoying it and would recommend it to others.

Found myself on the road bored to death when I decided to do something I haven't done in many many years...purchase a book.

Since I conduct seminars I was searching the local bookstore for topics that included public speaking, body language, etc. Having seen Tonya on the networks I purchased the book not knowing what to expect. Well, needless to say I had finished the book in 4 hrs flat!! I couldn't put it down. Great information. Since purchasing in early Dec. I have seen my evaluations in the seminars go from good to absolutely outstanding!

I received my order as stated by the providers' policies and in the condition stated which was almost new. I had a very good experience and will definitely use them again. The book is also wonderful, insightful and servers the purpose I had hoped. Nice job by all!

5 out of 5 stars Do you really know how to read body language?   July 6, 2009

This book is a wealth of information for anybody whether you are in business, a student or just want to communicate better. The book starts out explaining that you as an individual have the capacity to change when you want to. there are plenty of stories through example. The breakdown of communication is also explained in the beginning.
Learning the importance of facial communication is one of the most useful tools out in the field as a salesperson. The book does a great job with pictures of celebrities and their facial expressions and what they mean. Although the information you gather may be wrong you can partially use this tool to learn about what people are thinking or their thought process while with them. The tool you can really use is what facial expressions to use while you are communicating.
A really interesting section is where seating arrangements are discussed and where to pick your seat to gain power or compliance.
Want to learn what you have been saying and not really known it? Then you need a copy of this book?
Want to learn how to read a person better for dating, business or just everyday use you will benefit from what you read even if you do not practice what strategies are taught.
